NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS & OFFICERS ELECTED – On February 25th the Bell Park Development Association held its Annual General Meeting.  The following volunteers were elected as directors and officers of the 2008/2009 Bell Park Development Association:  Jim Foster (Chair); Cyril McDonald (Vice-Chair); Wilma Hazelwood (Treasurer/Secretary); Gerry Leslie; Doug Nickerson; Brent Beck; Moka Case.  VERY SPECIAL THANKS - The Bell Park Development Association would like to publicly thank Mr. Gerry Leslie for his years of leadership as the Association’s Chair.  We are very fortunate to have Gerry remain on the Board of Directors given he was amongst the small handful of founding directors who are responsible for making Bell Park trails a reality – a beautiful natural gem all Mount Uniacke residents and visitors can and will enjoy for generations to come!  Our heartfelt and sincere thanks for your invaluable community contribution Gerry!

SPRING CLEAN-UP, TRAIL MAINTENANCE & REPAIRS – It’s that time of year when Bell Park volunteers will be doing some “spring cleaning” in the park.  The amount of work will depend on how much money we are able to raise to ensure that the trails receive some TLC after a wilder winter than in recent memory.  Fortunately, throughout the winter we were able to clear any downed trees from pathways but there’s still plenty on our “to do” list to make Bell Park a safe place for you and yours to go for a stroll. Unfortunately, someone didn’t report that they lost control of their car and smashed through the guardrails at the park’s entrance in March.  We had hoped that the driver would come forward.  In addition to the damage to park property, we want to make sure that they are okay.   We will have to fundraise to pay for the repairs since we’ve exhausted most of the money in the bank paying for the extra snow removal of the parking lot this winter.  In case the driver thinks that the Dept. of Natural Resources will pay for the damage, they’re wrong.  The Province does not pay for such things.  It’s your neighbours – volunteers all of us – who will have to find a way to raise funds to pay for it.  There is still time for the driver who had the accident and caused the damage to come forward – we will forgive you if you pay for the damage!  Anyone else who has information about this incident is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers and leave an anonymous tip.

WANT TO GET INVOLVED?  HELP WITH THE SPRING CLEAN-UP & MAINTENANCE?  Come to our April meeting and meet our small but mighty group of volunteers.  Also, feel free to contact either the Bell Park Development Association Chair, Jim Foster at 866-3889 This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it   OR  myself, Moka Case at 256-2400 This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it
