It’s great to have this nice
weather and we are out and about again in the community.
Cst. Cameron was the leader
in a recent workshop sponsored by the West Hants Health Board. This workshop was well attended and we hope
for continued success as residents educate themselves. We have made contact with the Dept. of
Highways regarding some road concerns.
We are appreciative of the fact that they are listening and placing
signs strategically. A resident made a
comment recently that there should be an added course to licensed drivers,
namely “how to avoid pot holes at high
speed”. You can’t, so don’t try.
We would like to commend our
community for their efforts in assisting our group and the R.C.M.P. as
residents are obviously paying attention to their personal safety and the
safety of their homes. It makes it
worthwhile for the volunteers that are spending their time passing on
information as it is being received. As a reminder (and yes we can hear the
groans), the Stop Signs are there for a reason. Please use them. We have
been hearing too often of people passing stopped busses as well. The unfortunate accident recently in West
Hants is a reminder that things can happen.
Our precious children are on those busses, and we need to make their safety first. Pass it on. Stay safe.
Tuesday, April 8 Mount Uniacke Citizens on
Patrol hosted the Regional C.o.P. meeting with C.o.P. groups from Centre
Burlington, Ardoise and Ellershouse.
Constable George Cameron introduced Constable Bushy and his K-9
partner. Constable Bushy explained the
intricate training and handling of RCMP dogs across Canada and the K-9
involvement in crime-solving since 1935.
What an amazing addition to the RCMP!!
Mount Uniacke C.o.P. will be running more drive arounds now that the
nicer weather is here. We ask parents
to ensure bicycle helmets are worn and check to make sure children wear the
helmets properly.
