I won’t go back far in our history. Just to the pieces of the real time I can remember, the bits and pieces as a senior was in my time.

I certainly do remember Ron and Bessie Mizon.  We used to put on concerts in the big old hall in Mount Uniacke and here these two little children up on the stage singing, “There Will Always Be An England.”.  They were a brother and sister from England.  I don’t think there was a dry eye in the hall that night.  Britain stopped sending the children over here when a ship was sunk with a loss of children.  I was still in my teens and a bit after that I also went to work at Sunnyside and I think the Mizon children went on their way too!.

Remember Mount Uniacke’s FIRE!?!?  It started at the little lake up the track and followed the track and left side of the road.  It burned MacKenzie’s barn and horse and so much of our woods.                                       Sadie Siroy
