Uniacke District Ratepayers’ Association Update

February 2010

While the cold snows surround us here in Mount Uniacke, members of UDRA and the community of Mount Uniacke look forward to green grass and warmer days.  Although we are still a small and quiet group of volunteers working in our community, we are slowly progressing on our current project.  We continue to hold Family Movie Nights at the Fire Hall once a month.  These are well attended and the money raised at our canteen goes towards the upkeep of our Community Playground.  Thank you to all of our supporters!

With the help of Municipal and Provincial funding, we have been working away on the newest addition to our community.  The construction of the Mackenzie Soccer Field on Mackenzie Drive is still ongoing.  Although the winter brought progress to a halt for now, much has been done to date.  We are expecting to continue with the field in the Spring.  Take a drive by off the East Uniacke Road after the snow melts to see the progress so far.  The plan is to finish grading the field, fencing it and hydro-seeding it.  This facility will be a much needed addition to our community.  Our young soccer players must travel outside the area to play on quality fields.  This will encourage more growth in soccer and will offer Mount Uniacke a place to invite other teams to play in our community.

We are always looking for volunteers and helpers.  If you are interested in finding out how you can help make Mount Uniacke a better place, please feel free to contact the people below.  Thank you for your interest in UDRA.
