FALLS DEVASTATING FOR SENIORS

Falls can happen to anyone in a blink of an eye, but a fall that can cause bruises in a 5 year old may break the hip of a 70 year old.

Tips on preventing falls:

     * Wear “Delcers’ in winter.  They make walking on slippery surfaces much easier

     * Hipsters or hip protectors, especially ideal for women, are designed to protect the hip against injury caused by falling.

    * Carry a small bag of sand in the car or purse for traction on patches of ice.

    * Get rid of mats and rugs unless they have non-slip backings.

    * Have a look at our check list on preventing falls.  Contact us at 902-798-8380 or visit www.seniorsafetyprogram.ca
